Clayton State Alumni Association Announces Plans to Hold 17th Annual Dinner at Student Activities Center

The Clayton State Alumni Association will “Welcome Home” all alumni and friends for its 17th Annual Alumni Dinner this spring.

The Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday, Apr. 18 in the University’s newly-opened Student Activities Center Ballroom. The Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. and be preceded by a reception at 6 p.m.

“We are so excited about having the opportunity to have our Dinner on campus in the new Ballroom this year,” says Alumni Association President Shawn Nelson. “The new Student Activities Center is an incredible facility and a wonderful addition to the Clayton State campus. It will allow our alums the opportunity to come back and see the transformation of our campus over the last couple of years.”

The University, which will be celebrating its 40th year anniversary in 2009, opened the 62,000 square foot facility, located near the South entrance of campus, in the fall of 2008. The striking facade conceptualized by architects to invite Clayton State’s beautiful campus in, literally has a see through design on the west wing with enormous windows, allowing an abundance of natural light inside.

Along with the Ballroom, the facility features two basketball courts, a game room, work-out areas, locker rooms, a small café and offices for student government leaders, the Recreation and Wellness Staff and the Student Affairs staff.

In conjunction with the dinner, the Alumni Association will also recognize its 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award winners, have a guest speaker, and hold a benefit auction. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new facility.

All alumni, faculty/staff, students and friends of the University are invited to the Dinner. Tickets will be available for a discounted $40 per person rate before Apr.1, and afterwards, they may be purchased at $45 per person. Dues paying Clayton State Alumni Association members will have an opportunity to receive an additional discount for the Dinner tickets.
