Rankings released by the Financial Times (FT) place the Executive MBA (EMBA) at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business 26th among U.S.-based programs and 78th worldwide.
The rankings, limited to the world’s top 100 programs, are based on program, student and faculty information such as alumni satisfaction and changes in their salaries, faculty and cohort diversity, thought leadership by faculty (research productivity), and international experiences in the program.
In faculty research productivity, based on the number of faculty publications in 45 international academic and practitioner journals, the Robinson College is 26th among U.S.-based programs and 46th worldwide.
The Robinson EMBA is 6th among U.S.-based programs and 33rd worldwide for international course experience, defined as coursework conducted outside the country in which the program is located. A hallmark of the Robinson College EMBA program is its international business residency. Each cohort travels to a host country for an intense immersion experience into business and culture. Past residencies have included study in China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Argentina, Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece and the Netherlands.
According to Dean H. Fenwick Huss, “The FT rankings are indicative of the Robinson College’s stature as a leading resource for global executive education and our faculty’s leadership in advancing the theory and practice of international business.
"Noting that in 2010 the Robinson College was awarded a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and that Georgia State was awarded a Confucius Institute," Huss said. “Our ability to offer programs that advance the understanding of international business and global markets will continue to increase.”
Dave Forquer, assistant dean for executive programs, added, “Our position among the best EMBA programs in the world confirms that the Robinson College delivers on our promise to develop global business leaders."
The Robinson College Executive MBA is 17 months in duration. On average, students in the EMBA cohort possess more than 15 years of business experience. The program first made the Financial Times EMBA rankings in 2003 and has been on the list for seven of the past eight years.

Campbell School Lauded for Quality of MBA Program
The MBA program offered by Berry College’s Campbell School of Business has been honored for excellence by The Princeton Review. This is the third consecutive year that the Campbell School has been featured in The Princeton Review’s annual publication recognizing top business schools nationwide.
“We are pleased to recommend the Berry College Campbell School of Business to readers of our book and users of our site, www.PrincetonReview.com, as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA,” stated Robert Franek, senior vice president for publishing at The Princeton Review. “We chose the 301 business schools in this book based on our opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book.”
The Princeton Review does not rank the business schools featured in "The Best 301 Business Schools: 2010 Edition" on a single hierarchical list or name one business school best overall. Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories. Ten lists are based on The Princeton Review’s surveys of 19,000 students attending the 301 business schools profiled in the book. The 11th, “Toughest to Get Into,” is based solely on institutional data. The lists are available online at www.PrincetonReview.com. The Campbell School is one of 66 schools in the book that appear on one or more of the book’s ranking lists.
"The Best 301 Business Schools: 2010 Edition" features two-page profiles of each institution. In its profile, the Campbell School was lauded for “having an increasingly important presence in the North Georgia economic community.”
“We are delighted to once again be recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the top business schools in the nation,” said Dr. John Grout, Campbell School dean. “This recognition is the result of the continuous efforts by the Campbell School faculty to offer a quality MBA program within the Northwest Georgia region. We are pleased that our students have this opportunity to express their support for our program.”

Financial Times ranks Robinson College Executive MBA 23rd in U.S.
Rankings released Oct. 19 by the Financial Times place the Executive MBA (EMBA) program at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business 23rd among U.S.-based programs and 65th globally. Locally, it is the only EMBA offered by a public university to make the list.
The latest rankings, which list 95 schools, are based on a combination of survey results from EMBA graduates who received their degrees in 2007, and data provided by each school that covers increases in salary, international faculty representation, total female faculty and students, and more. Robinson's EMBA first made the Financial Times rankings in 2003 and has been on the list for six of the past seven years.
"We are proud to be recognized among the world's elite Executive MBA programs" said Robinson Dean H. Fenwick Huss. "This ranking underscores Robinson's stature as a leading resource for global executive education. It also is a tribute to the quality of our faculty, staff and students."
Added Dave Forquer, assistant dean of executive programs, "One of the most significant elements of the Financial Times ranking is its survey of EMBA students. Our position among the best programs in the world confirms that we deliver on our promise to develop global business leaders."
Robinson's Executive MBA is an accelerated course of study that allows students to earn their degrees in 16 months. The average Robinson EMBA student has more than 15 years business experience. Classes meet every other week on Friday and Saturday at Georgia State University's Buckhead Center. In addition to its emphasis on leadership, one of the highlights of the EMBA program is an international residency in which students gain a greater understanding of international trade through an immersion in the culture, business climate and business practices of the host country.
Past residencies have included study in India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, the Netherlands and Iceland.
Noted for an emphasis on educating leaders, the Robinson College and Georgia State University have produced more of Georgia's top executives with graduate degrees than any other school in the nation.

Georgia Southern University's College of Business Administration Recoginzed by The Princeton Review
Georgia Southern University’s College of Business Administration has been recognized as one of the best business schools in the country by The Princeton Review. This is the fourth year in a row Georgia Southern University has been included on the list.
“It is an honor to be included on The Princeton Review’s best business school list,” said Ronald Shiffler, dean of the College of Business Administration. “In the 2010 edition, the publishers of the Princeton Review feature information about our outstanding academic offerings, our faculty’s dedication to students, and the flexibility of our on-line programs. We are very proud of our faculty and outstanding students who helped make this recognition possible.”
The Princeton Review names Georgia Southern University’s MBA program as one of the best in the country. The guide highlights the classes offered on the Statesboro campus, at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah and the on-line courses that make up the Georgia WebMBA program. Business schools are included on the Princeton Review list after an extensive research and surveying process.
“We are pleased to recommend Georgia Southern University’s College of Business Administration to readers as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior vice president of publishing. “We chose the 301 business schools in this book based on our opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of the students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book.”
“Georgia Southern’s MBA program provides outstanding advanced educational opportunities with the flexibility working professionals need as they take the next step towards advancing their career,” said Melissa Holland, director of Georgia Southern’s MBA programs. “Our MBA students told the publishers of the Princeton Review about their professors’ willingness to work around their schedule and even providing students with their cell phone numbers in case they had questions in the evenings or on the weekends. Those are some of the reasons so many students choose Georgia Southern University for their MBA.”

Business School To Offer Accelerated Day MBA in Atlanta
Mercer University is offering a new twist to its Master of Business Administration degree: day classes. Mercer’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics has long offered its Flexible MBA in the evenings on the University’s Atlanta campus; now it will offer an accelerated MBA program during the day. This accelerated program will afford qualified individuals the opportunity to earn an MBA from an internationally accredited business school in just one year.
The MBA is a professional degree for qualified students interested in the management of human, material and financial resources in business, government and nonprofit organizations. The day program is tailored to meet the needs of individuals re-tooling their careers or returning to the work place, including retired military personnel, international students, traditional graduates desiring to stay on a day schedule and shift workers in such fields as health care or public safety.
The Stetson School of Business and Economics holds the highest level of accreditation available for business schools from AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 25 percent of business schools in the world have earned this accreditation. The School was named one of the “Top 296 Business Schools” and also ranked No. 3 in the nation by the Princeton Review for “Greatest Opportunity for Women.”
About the Accelerated MBA Program:
For students who need foundation courses in business, the program will begin with evening courses in May. Then, in July, the entire cohort will begin with two new 1.5 credit classes, Business Communication and Team Dynamics, which are offered in a four-week session, with two classes per week per class, either in morning or afternoon blocks.
All students continue, cohort-style, with two eight-week fall sessions and two eight-week spring sessions. Students will take three classes per session on four-day schedules – no classes will meet on Fridays. As with the summer session, students may choose morning or afternoon blocks to accommodate their individual and family needs. The program will conclude in May.
Applicants must have a four-year bachelor’s degree with an acceptable level of scholarship from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. The degree may be in any discipline. Applicants are also required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test. The admission decision is based upon assessment of the applicant’s ability for successful graduate study. This assessment will be based upon aptitude, measured by the GMAT, previous academic record and, in some instances, successful managerial experience.
For more information on this program, visit business.mercer.edu or contact the Stetson School of Business and Economics Admissions Office at (678) 547-6417 or atlbusadm@mercer.edu.

Georgia Tech’s Full-time MBA Ranked 29th by BusinessWeek
Georgia Tech College of Management broke into the top 30 of BusinessWeek’s latest rankings of the nation’s top full-time MBA programs.
Georgia Tech is listed 29th (10th among public universities) in the BusinessWeek survey, which only gives numerical rankings to the first tier of 30 schools. Tech is also ranked 23rd for best return on investment.
Published every other year since 1988, the magazine’s MBA rankings are determined by a survey of newly minted MBAs, a poll of corporate recruiters, and an evaluation of faculty research output.
In an online forum announcing the rankings, BusinessWeek associate editor Louise Lavelle explained Georgia Tech’s ascension: “One big reason was the student survey. Georgia Tech did better than four other top-ranked schools. The consulting and operations programs are strong. And it doesn’t hurt to be located in Atlanta for recruiting purposes.”
"The Best B-Schools” is featured in the November 24 issue of BusinessWeek, on newsstands November 17.
Georgia Tech College of Management is also ranked 29th (11th among public universities) in U.S. News & World Report’s most recent rankings of the nation’s top full-time MBA programs.

Financial Times Ranks the Executive MBA Program at UGA's Terry College of Business Among the Top 25 in the U.S. and Top 60 in the World
The Executive MBA program at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business received its highest ranking to date in a global survey published Oct. 27 in the Financial Times, one of the world’s leading business news organizations.
The Terry Executive MBA is ranked 22nd in the United States and 59th in the world, according to the Financial Times’ annual ranking. The Terry EMBA made the most significant improvement of any program ranked the past two years, rising 18 spots in this year’s ranking. Emory’s Goizueta Business School is the only other ranked executive MBA program in Georgia (18th in the U.S., 53rd in the world).
Terry’s “Career Progress” rank was third highest nationally and 13th in the world. This measurement calculates the change in the level of seniority and the size of the company graduates work for now versus the period before they entered the EMBA program.
The average salary reported by graduates three years after completing the program was $153,750, which ranked 19th among U.S. business schools. Similarly, Terry ranked 20th in average salary growth when 2005 graduates were asked to compare their current salaries with their pre-EMBA salaries.
Terry’s Executive MBA program was established in 2001. The program moved to its current location at the Terry Executive Education Center in Buckhead in 2005.
“As a relatively new program in Atlanta, the Terry EMBA is already well known for quality,” said Terry College Dean Robert T. Sumichrast. “Most gratifying in the Financial Times survey were the high scores reported by our EMBA graduates who were asked how their careers had advanced since completing the program and how well they had fulfilled their goals when they set out to get an MBA.”
For the measure “Aims Achieved,” the Terry EMBA ranked 22nd in the world and seventh best in the United States. The “aims achieved” measurement quantifies the extent to which EMBA graduates reported fulfilling their most important goals for pursuing an MBA.
“The Terry EMBA emphasizes personal leadership development and the practical application of management concepts and skills to real business settings,” said Richard Daniels, director of the Executive MBA program. “The rankings illustrate that such an approach creates value for employers and has a real impact on the career trajectory of our participants.”
Now in its eighth year, the Financial Times ranking is compiled using data from two sets of surveys. One is completed by alumni who graduated three years ago from the EMBA programs the Financial Times considered for the ranking. The other survey is completed by the business schools.
The Terry College’s Executive MBA degree is an 18-month program based in Buckhead, geared toward mid-level professionals to senior managers. The format combines weekend class sessions with asynchronous interaction using distance learning technologies. The program offers personalized service, individual leadership coaching, and a 12-day international residency.

Georgia Southern University Featured in Princeton Review’s ‘Best Business Schools’
Georgia Southern University’s College of Business Administration (http://coba.georgiasouthern.edu) has been named one of the most outstanding business schools in the country by the Princeton Review. Georgia Southern, with an enrollment of nearly 18,000 students, is featured in the just-published 2009 edition of the Princeton Review’s “Best 296 Business Schools.”
“This is an outstanding honor and it represents the type of program and faculty we have at Georgia Southern University,” said Ron Shiffler, dean of the College of Business Administration. “We are very pleased to be named among the top business schools in the country.”
According to Robert Franek, Princeton Review vice president of publishing, "We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools. We are pleased to recommend Georgia Southern University to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA."
The Princeton Review does not rank the schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 296, or name one business school best overall. Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories. Ten lists are based on The Princeton Review's surveys of 19,000 students attending the 296 business schools profiled in the book. The lists are posted at www.PrincetonReview.com.
Georgia Southern University’s MBA program has become the program of choice for both full- and part-time professionals wanting to take the next step in their business career.

University of West Georgia Doubles MBA Enrollment
The Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia doubled enrollment in their Master of Business Administration program this year with a total of 140 registered students.
According to Dr. Jon Anderson, associate dean and MBA director in the RCOB, the business administration degree plays a significant role in providing education for working managers in the West Georgia region.
“Through recent innovations in pedagogy, course scheduling and curriculum, the MBA is now more effective and accessible than in the past,” said Anderson. “These improvements have led to increased enrollments and a stronger influence on the business environment in West Georgia, Atlanta and other places in the world our graduates now work.”
The RCOB offers the MBA program at the Carrollton campus, the Newnan Center and through the Georgia WebMBA online program. MBA classes include learning how to communicate professionally in written and oral presentations, ethical decision-making and using technology effectively on the job.
The Carrollton and Newnan campuses offer the option of evening classes for the non-traditional students in either a full time or part time schedule. The Georgia WebMBA also offers a flexible schedule of round-the-clock access.
The RCOB is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), a distinction achieved by fewer than fifteen percent of business schools worldwide.
The business college is also one of approximately four percent of schools with separate AACSB accreditation for the accounting program and has received recognition from The Princeton Review as one of America’s Best Value Colleges in both 2007 and 2008.
